Sycamore Maple Leaf (Night)

Sycamore Maple Leaf (Night) - Maple is a deciduous tree up to 35 m high. As a smaller tree it is cone-shaped, later the tree becomes broad-domed. The bark is brown at first. Then it turns grey-brown and peels off partially, in large patches. The underbark is reddish brown. The leaves are hand-lobed with 5 rounded tapered lobes. The leaf edge is roughly serrated. The colour is grass-green, while the underside is grey-green. Harvest colour is distinctly yellowish/brown. Maple thrives best on moist, nutrient-rich topsoil. But can cope with almost any soil. It is quite shade-tolerant - and can therefore grow up in, for example, closed beech forests, where it can later out-compete the beech trees. The tree blooms in May, with flowers in green clusters. At night, the leaves of the trees reflect a turqoise color and it is also easier to see the "network" of brances inside the leaf a lot better. The leaf is somewhat coated in a thin layer of what looks like Apatite.
