Greater Stitchwort (Night)

Greater Stitchwort (Night) - The Greater Stitchwort is a large-flowered perennial whose stem is hairless and square. Its long, stiff, spreading leaves are rough and distinctly intergrown at the base. This species overwinters green, lying flat on the ground. It resumes growth already at the end of April. Blossoming takes place in May-June, and the ripened seeds fall in July. However, seedlings rarely survive, and the Greater Stitchwort is most successful at reproducing with rootless stems. The vegetative spread results in typical patchy stands. Greater Stitchwort thrives on moist soils in deciduous forests and wooded meadows, rarely in dry mixed or coniferous forests. The species is regionally threatened. At night, the flower glows a bright pink/purple-ish color. It seems that it's roots are fused with a Rose Quartz mineral.
