The Watchers unexpectedly descended on the city of Ryras, which was entirely without defences. The Burning Blade couldn't make it in time to protect the citizens. At the same time, the position of the Dreadspawn made them especially vulnerable to attack from outside the city. A significant portion of the branch of the Fifty-Third was present, and eliminating them would offer an important strategic victory for the First Dreamers. And thus, the Cleansing Flame burned the city with the Watchers."
