Later, Cydem was at the razing of Tar'Fanas and was almost killed in a surprise attack by the Watchers. Desperate, they retreated to Althar'Nas, one of the throneworlds of the Dominion, hoping to finally find peace there. It was only thanks to sheer luck that they survived the Bane's descent on the world - they were off-world at the time. For some, the retreat beyond the simian gates was a crushing defeat.
