Though she can perceive the splendour of infinity, she cannot ignore the deep fissures of fear, pain, and tragedy that pervade it. Having isolated herself in the far reaches of the Desert of Leaves, Vertas cries unceasingly, overwhelmed by the collective misery she can now feel.
