When I am swimming with them in the wild I get an introspective realization that I’m in the middle of the jungle. They come in different colors such as bright yellow, brown, reddish-brown, and some that are so dark they look black. They use dead leaf crypsis both for defense and for hunting their prey. They hang out either near the surface next to floating leaves or at the bottom of the river near the leaf litter. They are outrageous predators that when in range of an unaware critter, they use their protruding jaw to suck and trap their prey in their mouth cavity.
