Küp has no choice. Chak’s pulse is beating nervously. Although a devious part of her enjoys it, Küp does not actually want to scare her kin. One of Küp’s few close companions, Chak is not a Mythtuf she seeks to alienate. But Chakratch was sloppy this time, and order has gone to the mushrooms in this tribe. More importantly, Kanko is watching. Once Chak slips up and Kanko is on the line, the human will need to fall back on someone else. If the Mythtuf want to keep the alliance, they’ll need to prove to Kanko they can follow rules. No one else does on this planet, and Kanko will catch wind soon enough. If Küp can keep showing crime comes with punishment and she’s willing to bear both sides of it, she’ll gain a trust more valuable than that of food and playtime.
