Cute Slime Spring

Growing horizontally from the spiral of the spring are flat, photosynthesizing sheets, which provide the plant’s limited energy supply. The slime springs hop near old tree colonies and act as bait for organotrophs, a type of macro-flora that mimics bacteria and consumes other plant species. A simple organotroph will roll across the forest floor, squish the spring and begin to consume it. As it digests the sheets, the organotroph will unknowingly compress the spring. When fully compressed, the spring will release its energy, often tearing the membrane of the organotroph. It can then decompose the organotroph’s body.
