Boulder Eats

The troops had been running this drill for almost a quarter cycle now, but most still executed pitiably, requiring coddling and medical attention when their concentration wandered and the boulder nicked an organ. Gywtug allocated more brainpower than a Commander should to concerns over their health. Training was one of a few times she indulged anxiety, believing it fair given the discomfort of her troops. But to ensure success, she had to keep up the pretense that this exercise was easy, and their failure was due to lack of will. Yesterday, she had run herself through each level of difficulty. It was uncompromising, admittedly. She watched a troop divert a muscle group out of the path of the falling boulder but overextend, wincing while others rushed to attendance. Gywtug kept her worry sealed and smooth, ineligible to any who might glance over. Time for some tough love.
