When facing scurrilous antagonists or unscalable obstacles, Chakratch equips the boxing mitts. Made out of cavernous tissue, the boxing mitts shrink in disuse. When pumped with blood, the tissue presses against the leathery skin and creates a taut surface. Because the fluid fills tissue cells and not one main sac, a gouge to the mitt does not deplete the whole appendage of blood, but only what is ruptured. In preparation for the Quintresier, Chakratch dips the mitts in liquid chalk. The layered chalk skins can peel off when caught on something sticky, such as a Quintresier tongue. The mitts are also useful for breaking rock and absorbing shock, since their simple structure can be easily repaired when bruised. Complemented with energy bursts, the mitts propel Chakratch high over the gullies that spontaneously form in the Heaving Hills. The pack doesn’t stand a chance.
