A Decisive Evening

The tribe needed this more than they knew. She’d been grinding them to grain in training, and she couldn’t tell if for better or for worse. Every bit of practice they had the last cycle, especially the goal-oriented coordination, would come into play; the Ecosystem thought it was behind, and would do everything in its power to challenge the Mythtuf nature— particularly their weakness of individual will. Then again, the tribe was exhausted but would have to start for real tomorrow. Gywtug was worried that this diversion wouldn’t be enough to rejuvenate them, that they all knew what was coming and dreaded it. But when she saw Kanko fall through an entrance in the bathhouse, she finally let herself sink into the psychic space. To her surprise, she encountered the meaningless scramble of indirected thoughts all around, and something tight in her unwound.
