Oh My, It Moved!

It had to be a kind of fauna, too small and specialized and unrooted to be flora. It was floating— what a wonder! Chak warily considered that it was a trap laid by the Quintresier, for its energy presence was unusual. But it was clearly material, and the Quintresier could thought-morph no such life forms. Strange though, was the clear biological structure, yet absence of function. This was an organism that could not move; was it possible? There was clearly blood flow and cognitive activity; the psychic weight of the creature was extraordinary. In fact— Chakratch startled and stepped back— the organism was attracting a vast pool of Otris energy. It just could not absorb it. What kind of thing was this? A new Otris-troph, some mutant usurper come to deplete the old forests? Or perhaps this was something else altogether, something more unreal.
