My Friend the Butterfly

The saccharide butterfly inhabits the coastal forests near the Mythtuf town, and is one of the few flora types permitted by trees to drift along the canopy and collect sunlight. When charged up, it folds its nano-thin wings and spin to the ground. Here, it extends thin roots in the soil to pick up nutrients necessary for vitamin and amino acid production. It creates ideal conditions for lactic acid bacteria, feeding and encouraging the bacteria to generate exopolysaccharides. The butterfly plant then opens its wings and floats along the breeze, following chemical trails and steering by partial folding to distributing sugars to eager customers. The sugars are prized for protecting against phagocytosis by organotrophs. The saccharide butterflies are another defender in the fight against the rise of pathogens.
