(nb)athroom - This artwork is a vibrant and colorful self-portrait that captures the essence of my identity as a non-binary person from Brazil. The original image from which it was transformed into a drawing, was taken in a (gender-free) bathroom, and with the colors applied, creates the feeling that I am in another dimension. The colors used in the work include those of the LGBTQIA+ flag and those of thermal vision, which symbolize the realization of my human warmth and union with other beings. These colors convey a sense of gender fluidity, rejecting the idea that gender should be binary and fixed. Through the use of color, I celebrate my uniqueness and the diversity of all gender identities. The portrait is distorted and abstract, but still maintains some realistic aspects. The choice of these elements symbolizes how sometimes I feel like an alien in relation to the society I live in, as if I don't belong in the world around me, or am inferior to any other being because someone thought that me being a trans person can define this. However, instead of focusing on the negativity of this feeling, the artwork celebrates my difference and highlights the beauty in uniqueness and the ability I possess regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Overall, my artwork is a celebration of gender fluidity and the unity between all human beings. It questions the idea that gender should be fixed and binary, while celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of being myself. With my abstract, distorted, and colorful approach, the work conveys a sense of freedom and joy, as if I am breaking free from the bonds of society and allowing myself to be completely myself.
